People working together to help our community reach its goal
A legacy of doing good. A commitment to doing better.
P&G brands make products with next life in mind and continuously innovate to reduce, reuse and recycle. Led by Ambition 2030, P&G’s commitment to reduce plastic waste includes a goal of 100% recyclability or reusable packaging by the year 2030.
As a founding partner of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, P&G has long been committed to creating products that minimize their environmental footprint while also making life easier for people to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The latest example of P&G’s commitment to meeting sustainability is Planet KIND, a new shaving and skincare brand from Gillette.
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.
Plastics are not all bad. On the positive side, they’ve made life more convenient than ever before by improving living conditions, hygiene and nutrition for people around the world.
And while convenience has increased, unfortunately, plastic waste has increased too. In fact, according to Plastic Bank, the average person generates 185 pounds of plastic waste per year. And unfortunately, too much of the world’s plastic waste finds its way into our oceans. This plastic pollution causes extensive damage to our oceans and harms the animals who call them “home.” The situation is dire and plastic must be reduced, reused and recycled to protect our planet.
When we all come together, we can be part of the solution. Many of us already set aside plastic milk jugs, glass bottles and cardboard for the recycling bin. Or wash and clean them to reuse for other household projects. Often though, our well-intentioned efforts to avoid waste are derailed by recycling incorrectly or simply not knowing what can be recycled. And though it seems daunting, it’s really not that complicated: The more we reuse items and properly recycle, the more recyclable material is available to be used again and again for new products and packaging.
Make sure you know the rules around recycling in your area and are correctly reading recycling labels. And get creative! There are a lot of ways you can reuse packaging and household items to make something old new again and reduce your overall environmental impact.
A global recycling ecosystem
Planet KIND + Plastic Bank share a mission to dramatically clean up our oceans. Plastic Bank is a social enterprise that helps stop ocean plastic while improving the lives of collectors in vulnerable coastal communities.
Plastic Bank builds recycling ecosystems in coastal communities and reprocesses the materials back into the supply chain.
The organization currently operates in Haiti, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines and Egypt, and not only helps the environment in those countries, but supports their local economies as well. The waste collectors who work with Plastic Bank receive a premium wage for the materials they collect. This financial support helps them provide their families with groceries, cooking fuel, school tuition and health insurance.
Plastic Bank’s Alchemy™ blockchain platform secures the entire transaction and provides real-time data visualization – allowing for transparency, traceability, and rapid scalability.
Be KIND and do your part to reduce waste
Planet KIND makes it easy to incorporate sustainability into your shaving and skincare routine. Each razor handle is made with 60% recycled plastic and all packaging is made from recyclable material. Plus, through their partnership with Plastic Bank>, every Planet KIND product purchased prevents 10 plastic bottles from entering the ocean, putting Planet KIND and Plastic Bank one step closer to their goal of preventing 10 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean.
And that’s not all. You can make an even bigger impact through P&G Good Everyday, too. Select Planet KIND by Gillette + Plastic Bank as your cause and P&G will make an automatic donation to prevent 10 plastic bottles from entering the ocean for every receipt you scan and survey you take.
