Offering hope in the face of uncertainty
P&G has been supporting Feeding America® since 1982. Over the years, P&G has donated more than 30 million pounds of products and invested in their network’s school pantries across the country. And now, P&G and Feeding America® are coming together in a joint effort to support communities that have been and continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For many American families, quarantine has resulted in lost wages, difficulty accessing food and an increased reliance on food banks. Across the U.S., P&G is donating products for distribution through the Feeding America® network of 200 food banks. Donations include toilet paper, paper towels and personal care kits containing other everyday essential products and are given to families who need them most.
To help communities in need, Feeding America® has also launched a COVID-19 Response Fund. The donations go directly toward creating and distributing staged food boxes in the most vulnerable parts of the country, as well as providing emergency funding to food banks to meet the changing needs of the communities they serve.
Hunger doesn’t discriminate
Though Feeding America® is certainly a hunger-relief organization, they’re always there to support families in need — and the truth is that the need is always present. In fact, last year, more than 37 million people were forced to decide between buying food or other basic necessities. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Feeding America® estimates that an additional 17.1 million Americans will experience food insecurity. Hunger affects people of all ages and races — and it’s happening right now, right in front of us.
Through 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, the Feeding America® network touches the lives of Americans in every county in the country by providing families and individuals with nutritious food and hope. And each year, Feeding America® serves more than 40 million Americans. Along with their 2 million volunteers, they’re on a mission to end the hunger crisis entirely.
